Obéron, également appelé Uranus IV, est le plus éloigné des grands satellites naturels d'Uranus. C'est le deuxième satellite de cette planète tant par sa taille que sa masse et le neuvième du Système solaire en masse. Découvert par William Herschel en 1787, Obéron doit son nom à un personnage de la pièce de Shakespeare Le Songe d'une nuit d'été. Son orbite autour d'Uranus est partiellement située en dehors de la magnétosphère d'Uranus.
